that bitter tang of love
in your mouth like blood?
fascinated by your innate ability
to pretend that feelings don't matter
that it's something you can do without
i don't buy it
though i sympathize with your dilemma
i've been there before myself
instinct tells us to run
and fear is a powerful thing
but the politics of the heart dictate
that we only fear what we desire
we only have so much time here
